Evaluation of the first Özal Governmet of sports in Turkey

The subject of this study is the evaluation of the developments (laws and regulations, foundations, and other activities) in sports during the first Özal's government's period. Turgut Özal's life has been investigated. Related books have been searched. Related people have been interviewed. The study is in five parts. In this research, basic knowledge of sports and those parts related to sports in the constitution and government programs are given. It is seen that there is a rapid increase in the number of sportive foundations during the period 1983-1987. The portion for sports from the national budget increased up to 1%. During this period elite sportspeople were encouraged for international competitions to introduce Turkey in the best way. The law of physical education. No 3289, and encouragement fund regulations were made in this period. The expenses made by the General Directorate of Youth and Sport increased about 154%. In this Conclusion part, the subject is evaluated in general. This study, being prepared as a graduate thesis at the department of Physical Education of İnönü University, is this first in this area.
