Analysis of Imam Shāfiʿī 's opinions in Ibn 'Abd al-Bar's work called al-isti̇zqār (Specially in the prayer section)

Ibn 'Abd al-Bar (d. 463/1071) is an Andalusian scholar who produced important works in the fields of fiqh and hadith. It is seen that the author, who played an important role in determining the authenticity of hadiths and contributed to the development of the hadith criticism method in the Islamic world, also made significant contributions to the science of fiqh. Ibn 'Abd al-Bar, who analyzed and criticized fiqh views in his work titled al-Istizqār, conveyed the views of the companions and some sectarian mujtahids on the subject and analyzed them. The main views conveyed by the author are the views he attributes to Imam al-Shāfiʿī, who is considered the founding imam of the Shafi'i sect. It is important to identify and analyze the views that Ibn 'Abd al-Bar attributes to Imam al-Shāfiʿī. In this study, using document analysis and inductive methods, the accuracy of the views attributed by Ibn 'Abd al-Bar to Imam al-Shāfiʿī (d. 204/820) was tried to be determined by presenting them in the works of Imam al-Shāfiʿī and jurists who follow the Shāfiʿī sect. Thus, the validity of the views attributed by Ibn 'Abd al-Bar to the relevant sect was tried to be determined in terms of sect. In addition, an attempt was made to clarify this issue by identifying the sources referenced by the author and, if any, opinions attributed to the Shāfiʿī sect, although they do not belong to the sect. According to the information obtained, it has been seen that a significant part of the views attributed by Ibn 'Abd al-Bar to Imam al-Shāfiʿī and the Shāfiʿī sect in his work are accurate.
