Abstract (EN)
In our thesis titled "Ibn Hazm's Understanding of Prophethood", the asserted opinions of Ibn Hazm (d. 456/1064), an apparent scholar, on prophethood have been investigated. Ibn Hazm is generally known for his critical point of view. Traces of this critical structure can be seen in his opinions on prophethood. Ibn Hazm stood on the institution of prophethood and gave different opinions on prophethood. Although there were came up some differences with the Sunni Kalam in their opinions on prophethood, they have generally allied with common ideas. He coexisted with many ethnic structures as of the period he lived. Therefore he was interested in different religions around him and he has directed many criticisms towards Christians, Jews, Brahmans, etc. in his book "al-Fasl". Ibn Hazm said that their religion has been falsified so he also strictly criticized the invalidity of their asserted claims about prophethood. As making these criticisms, he subjected their Bible to systematic examination. He explained by quoting from scriptures in opinions of non-Islamic religions on prophethood.
