Ibn Mali̇k and hi̇s work called al-Alfi̇yyah i̇n terms of grammar

This study is titled "Ibn Malik and His work called al-Alfiyyah in terms of grammar" He was born in Andalusia in 1274 (as Hijrî 672). After that he migrated East and continued to his scientific activities here. He has authored very valuable works including especially Grammar, Morphology, Quran Recitation, Linguistics, and other İslamic Sciences either in Prose or Poetic forms. He was then recognized as an authority in the field of Arabic Grammer and has contributed greatly to the development of this field. The work of al-Alfiyyah which the author handled the Arabic grammer in a poetic style has been accepted as a turning point for similar works written in this field. It has been taught as an essential trace in the teaching of the Arabic language until today. In addition to that, It has been interpreted and annotated for many times by many scholars. This study consists of an introduction and two main sections. In the introduction, a brief information about the emergence of Arabic grammar (ılmu'n-Nahv) and Alfiyyah tradition in Islamic sciences is given. In the first section, life of Ibn Malik, scientific personality and his works are dealt with. In the second section, in order to determine grammatic value of al-Alfiyyah, chapters and content of the work, his substantiational method and lecture styles and also his attitude towards ideas of its predecessor in this area are discussed. In addition to that, after mentioning about works done on al-Alfiyyah, the value of it in terms of teaching Arabic grammer (ılmu'n-Nahv) is studied to determine. During the research process, classification method has been applied. In addition to that, analytical methods are also resorted in order to be able to specify the conturbutions of al-Alfiyyah to the Arabic grammer and teaching of it.
