Position of women in Ibn Rushd's political thought

Due to his contributions to the political science literature, Ibn Rusd is important in political science. Since Ibn Rusd's approaches in political philosophy and political science are different from his period, it is worth investigating. In the study, a distinction is made between the West and the East, and the approaches of Socrates, Platon, Aristoteles, Machiavelli, Kindi, Farabi, Ibn Sina and Gazali in the field of politics, their ideas and approaches on what should be considered when determining the source of power are discussed. Ibn Rusd offers groundbreaking reflections on his political approach, political philosophy and the position of women in society. In this study, it is aimed to position women within the framework of Ibn Rusd's political philosophy and to examine them in terms of feminism, which is the basis of the women's problematic. In this context, the study specifies the different views of the concept of politics in the literature and these views are examined through the approaches of different thinkers. The definitions of the concept of feminism in the literature, which explains the place and importance of women in society, are examined and the sub-titles of feminism are examined. In order to emphasize the similarities and differences between feminisms, this study examines liberal feminism, marxist feminism, socialist feminism, radical feminism and postmodern feminism and tries to explain the connection between them. In order to emphasize the nuances of feminisms and to reveal how they evaluate their analysis, a brief conceptualization of gender will be given before discussing different feminisms, and then feminisms will be presented with different emphases on this basis. Afterwards, Ibn Rusd's life, his approach to politics and political philosophy, and the ideas he put forward about the identity, position and education of women are investigated and analyzed through the mentioned conceptual framework. It is examined in the context of female identity that Ibn Rusd's ideas for women are suitable for which feminism approach and what women can do in the social process according to Rusd.
