Abstract (EN)
Anatolia is a vibrant geography that has hosted ancient civilizations throughout history. The basis of this is its geopolitical location and thus its trade routes. While the trade routes affect social and cultural life closely, trade life is one of the cases that are affected by this situation. The inns built for reasons such as reviving the commercial life, providing convenience and security are the most obvious consequences of this situation. Inns such as the historical Kızılören Inn (Konya-Beyşehir road, 1206), Karatay Inn (Kayseri-Sivas road, 1240) and Behram Pasha Inn (Sivas,1576), which are frequently encountered in port cities and in cities where commercial activities are intense, are frequently structured in cities such as Sivas Kayseri and Konya on the Silk Road. There are those who continue to exist from inns that have functions such as not only commerce but also goods preparation, caravans and passengers safety, and accommodation. Some of the İnns in Anatolia, many of which are historical monuments, still function as cafes or business inns. Some of them are opened to visitors only as a work that reflects the history. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the history of Corum Veli Pasha Inn, which has not been mentioned among these inns and has lost its historical quality over time, and the repairs it has undergone, and therefore the repairs, and at the same time, it is aimed to conduct a detailed study on the architectural status from beginning of 1800 years to present. Within this study, it is possible to compare the place of Corum Veli Pasha Inn among the historical inns in central Anatolia. It is difficult to reach the sources giving accurate information about Çorum Veli Pasha Inn due to the fires and deteriorations. However, it is possible to reach the information that there are late Ottoman city inns in their existing foundations. When the architecture of the building is examined, it can be said that it reflects the 19th century features in terms of plan and architecture. During the study, examinations were made on the work in September 2019, March 2020, October 2021, November, and finally in April 2022, and interviews were made with Çorum Municipality Employees, who carried out architectural examinations in this inn and completed the repair works in Veli Pasha Inn. As a result of the conclusions reached, it was concluded that the historical quality of Çorum Veli Pasha Han was started to be understood recently.
