Productivity in informal methods in interior design education: Workshop example

The goal of interior architecture education is to develop competent interior architects who excel in design, technique, and technology, and who continue to grow and acquire knowledge. Achieving this goal requires a comprehensive and multifaceted education process, which includes informal methods such as workshops. Workshops are designed to stimulate the creativity of designers within specific time constraints and criteria, encouraging mutual interaction. While the effects and effectiveness of workshops have been widely studied, this particular research focuses on analyzing their productivity. In the literature phase, the parameters affecting the productivity of workshops were investigated and these components were created; the impact levels of these components were analyzed numerically through a survey conducted with students. The relationship between these components and the productivity of the workshop activity is examined, with the aim of proposing new approaches to enhance the effectiveness of workshops in education. The research reveals that the most important component influencing workshop productivity is the choice of topic. It is crucial to select a topic that aligns with the students' interests and is presented within a suitable scope. When the choice of topics and other components are evaluated as a whole, the productivity of the workshops is affected.
