Abstract (EN)
Keywords: Water loss, DMA, PMA, pressure management Due to industrialization, climate change, and rapid population growth, water resources are likely to be inadequate. It is estimated that the number of countries experiencing water stress will increase. Prevention of water losses is very important in terms of providing sustainable access to water. In this study, hydraulic analysis of the drinking water distribution networks was carried out in order to reduce water losses in a selected area within the boundaries of the Kocaeli province of Izmit. The components of the water distribution network are modeled using the WaterCAD program. In order to reduce water loss, pressure management has been done in the study area. For pressure management, the area is divided into District Measurement Areas (DMA) and Pressure Management Areas (PMA). With the pressure management, water losses have decreased considerably. As a result of the pressure management studies, the rate of water loss within the study area has been reduced from 44% to 28%.
