Education statistics of Diyarbakır province according to İhsaiyat Mecmuası years (1923-1927)

History, as a fundamental factor of national consciousness, serves the function of connecting the past and present of societies. One of the most crucial aspects of transmitting accumulated experiences from the past to the present is the documentation of these experiences. Recorded history is examined under various categories depending on its era and the expertise of its scholars. One such category, "History of Education," has been studied and interpreted by experts from its inception to the present day. While the History of Education constitutes a broad category, this study focuses specifically on a subfield: the "History of Turkish Education." The subject is analyzed and interpreted based on the findings obtained. This study primarily investigates how the outcomes of educational reforms during the early years of the Republic were implemented in the province of Diyarbakır and its districts. Taking into account the existing socio-cultural structure of Diyarbakır and its districts, the study provides a detailed statistical representation of their responses to these educational reforms. Using archival documents from the Republican era and official quantitative statistical data, the research offers a comprehensive perspective on educational statistics in Diyarbakır province and its districts during the early years of the Republic. This thesis examines the developments in education, including school enrollment statistics, the number of teachers, the number of students, and other significant parameters in the field of education in Diyarbakır province between 1923 and 1927, based on data from the Ihsaiyat Mecmuası (Statistical Journal).
