Signs of fantastic as a literary genre in Ihsan Oktay Anar's novels

In this study, Ihsan Oktay Anar's seven novels; Puslu Kıtalar Atlası, Kitab-ül Hiyel, Amat, Suskunlar, Yedinci Gün and Galîz Kahraman were analyzed and whether these novels were included into fantastic was aimed to be detected. In the first chapter, limits of genre were described. In the second chapter, information was given about root of fantastic word, how, when and in which circumstances it was appeared as a genre, its sources, relationship with poetry, tales, children's literature and religion, periods, techniques, features, subgenres. Then, the differences between gothic, science fiction, utopia and magical realism initially confused with the fantastic frequently were revealed. After, history of the fantastic in the World and Turkish literature was determined. In the third chapter, information about the author's life and art was given. In the fourth chapter, signs of the fantastic are tried to be determined in each novel and according to the data, whether the novels are fantastic and if they are, in which subgenres they are, was revealed. In the conclusion, that Ihsan Oktay Anar had a fantastic style and Puslu Kıtalar Atlası, Amat and Suskunlar were purely fantastic, were determined. In Kitab-ül Hiyel and Yedinci Gün, the fantastic style was preserved but the fantastic was damaged because of scientific terms. In Galîz Kahraman, the author uses fantastic elements; applied parody for criticism, which transformed the novel into postmodern satire.
