II. contributions of Genç Kalemler magazine in nation building during the Constitutional period

The reforms that took place as a result of the disintegrations that intensified in the last cen-tury of the Ottoman Empire and the II. The constitutional regime came into force. As a result of this political revolution, the issue of making a social revolution occupied the Tur-kish mind as the next step. The direction of social reform and the method of orientation towards society seem to have become the central topic of discussion in this new environ-ment in cultural and political fields. With the changes experienced, the ideas of Turkism, Unionism and Populism, which had been discussed for many years, began to come to the fore and be examined in political and cultural fields. In this process, it can be seen that many schools of thought have developed on how to organize the construction of a new nation and new identity. Genç Kalemler staff also appears as one of these schools. The New Life idea of the Genç Kalemler School foresaw approaching the public with a simple language that they would understand, and continued its work with this ideal. Following the studies on this issue, Genç Kalemler Magazine seems to pursue a patriotic, nationalist and unionist publishing and education mission in order to raise awareness of nation and identity to the public. The main goal of this thesis is to examine the methods and political content of this mission and its relations with the actors and dynamics of the period.
