Germans deported from Turkey and interned in Turkey during World War II

Having completed its political unitiy in the 19th century, Germany took its place in World politics. Germany had good relations with the Ottoman Empire in the political, economic and miltary fields. Germany and the Ottoman Empire, which were on the same side in the First World War, were on the defeated side at the end of the war. The harsh conditions of the Treartt of Versailles, which was signed at the end of World War I, had dragged Germany towards the management approach of Adolf Hitler, the leader of National Socialist Workers Party, in short, the Nazi Party Leader. After Adolf Hitler's anti-Semitism and ethnic nationalism-based administration,many Jews left the country, and immigrated to different countries. Turkey was among the countries receiving immigration. The Throughout Second World War (1939-1945), Turkey maintained its political relations with both the Allied Powers and the Axis Powers. The effective neutrality policy was Turkey's main policy. However, by 1944, it was understood that The allied Powers would be victorious in this war. On the night of August 2 to 3, Turkey decided to cut its political and economic relations with Germany under pressure from the USA and Engand. After this decision, about 3000 German citizens were informed that they leave the country. While the majority of them left, those of Jewish origin and those who were anti-Nazi did not want to leave. The Turkish Government has decided to intern those 600-650 German citizens in the inner regions of Anatolia. Those who had been detained for sixteen months in Çorum, Yozgat and Kırşehir, were released after the war and allowed to return to their former places. During the internment period, the German citizens were not treated badly by the Turkish Authorities, anlishedd the local people accepted them as their guests along with the local administrators. German citizens completed their internment period in the same environment with the public, as there were not any separate internment capms.
