Analysing the opinions on character education regarging the Second Constitutional Period sociology of education pioneers'

The purpose of this study is to investigate the perspectives of the educators who emphasized the sociology in the Second Constitutionalist period on character education. In line with this objective, 12 educators that seemed to emphasize the sociology aspect of the education in their literary works in the Second Constitutionalist period were involved in the study by utilization of the book of Hilmi Ziya ÜLKEN named Türkiye'de Çağdaş Düşünce Tarihi, which has a rich content about the History of Turkish Sociology. Moreover, it was confirmed that these educators put emphasis on the social aspect of the education in the Second Constitutionalist period by analyzing the book of Yahya AKYÜZ named Türk Eğitim Tarihi, which has an extensive content. Furthermore, the expert opinion was considered through the selection of the educators in the study. The general survey model was applied as the research method in the study. The collection of the data was performed by the analysis of the documents. The collected data were analyzed with the descriptive analysis approach. Accordingly, the literary works of the chosen educators were evaluated by the 20-item value chart in the Curriculum of Social Sciences in 2005. The perspectives of the educators about these 20 values were classified into five variables. These variables were school, teacher, family, environment and curriculum. The results of this study demonstrate that these educators who emphasized the sociology in the Second Constitutionalist period mostly used the variables of the teacher and the school addressing the character education.
