Abstract (EN)
In the fight against climate change, ecosystem services (ES) are the most important resource of cities, and ensuring the sustainability of these resources is a critical step in reducing the effects of global warming and adapting to the climate. Within the scope of this thesis, it is aimed to reveal the contributions of ES to the city in the fight against climate change through UA and GIS. In this framework, carbon storage, air purification and soil maximum water retention potential analyzes were carried out in order to regulate the climate, improve air quality and control water flow from the regulatory ES within the scope of combating climate change in the sample of Karaburun district of İzmir province, respectively. Carbon storage potential was calculated based on NDVI values and the results varied between 105-110 Kg C/pixel in the study area. According to the air cleaning potential calculated with the dry precipitation approach, the PM10 cleaning potential in the area was found to be in the range of 0.10-10.78 gr/m2, and the NO2 cleaning potential in the range of 0.57-5.15 gr/m2. The maximum water holding potential of the soil was calculated by the SCS-CN method depending on the CNIII value. In order to obtain the final map, the obtained results were normalized weighted overlaid. According to the final map, 0.15% of the area ratio was found to have very low ES potential, 36.65% low, 46.06% medium and 17.12% high ES potential. This study offers a basic approach that will form a basis for planning studies within the scope of integrated ecosystem assessment and contribute to the presentation of the current ES situation in cities in the fight against climate change.
