Abstract (EN)
Economics which is a social science has lots of relations with the other sciences. Mathematics is one of these sciences. Many arguments were triggered by economics as a social science combined with mathematics as a natural science. Most of these arguments were based on a theoretical side. In this study the relation between economics and mathematics was also investigated from theoretical perspective. Since, this study includes the thoughts which defend the mathematical methods in economics and the thoughts against the mathematical methods in economics. This study also includes how mathematical methods are used in the chosen economics course books. There are lots of universities that have BA programs of Economics from all around the world. Every university stands disparate than each other by the mean of the education of mathematics and mathematical methods in economics. Thus, index of mathematics density in economics (IMDE) was created. These results showed that the averages of universities in Turkey are greater than the averages of universities on abroad either mathematical based courses or total courses. Even though these results, average values of IMDEs for abroad universities are greater than average values of IMDEs for Turkish universities.
