Psychometric properties of Turkish version of medication attitudues questionnaire

Aim: The aim of this study; was to evaluate the Turkish Psychometric properties of Medication Attitudes Questionnaire scale. Methods: The sample of this study was conducted by the parents who were scheduled to undergo surgery at Dokuz Eylül University Department of Pediatric Surgery. Data were collected between May 2019 and June 2019. The scope validity of the scale was evaluated with the opinion of 5 experts in the field of child health. Correlation analysis, number / percentage, t test, factor analysis and Cronbach α reliability coefficient were used in the analysis of the data. Findings: The cronbach α reliability value of the whole scale was found to be 0.73. The mean score of the scale was 54.21- + 14.05. Floor and ceiling effects were not detected in the scale. Kaiser - Mayer - Olkin (KMO) coefficient was 0.671, Barlett test x2 value was 507.510 and p = 0.000. The four sub-dimensions show 52.771 of the variance. The cronbach alpha values of the four sub-dimensions of the scale were 0.71, 0.72, 0.50, 0.40, respectively. The four sub-dimensions explain 52.771 of the total variance. Factor loads of the first subscale of the scale varied between 0.300 and 0.739, the second subscale varied between 0.475-0.783, the third subscale varied between 0.656-0.701 and the fourth subscale varied between 0.565-0.851. The chi-square value of the four-factor model was 165.90, degree of freedom was 95 and p = 0.000. X2 / SD section is determined as 1.746. The index of fit was found to be CFI 0.86, RMSEA 0.075, IFI 0.87, GFI 0.86, NFI 0.84 and NNFI 0.83. According to Linear Factor Analysis; The factor loadings of the first sub-dimension of the scale varied between 0.41-0.65, the second sub-dimension varied between 0.36-0.77, the third sub-dimension varied between 0.31-1.00, and the fourth sub-dimension varied between 0.25-0.95. Conclusion: As a result of the analyzes and evaluations, the validity and reliability of the Drug Administration Attitude Scale was found to be high. Given these results, the development of this scale shows successfully be used for research to be done in Turkey. Key Words: Pain Relief, Medication Attitudes Questionnaire, Validity and Reliability
