Anthropomorphic thought in early Imami Shiites

This study, under the title of "Anthropomorphic Thought in the Early Imami Shiites", aims to address many theological issues, including the conception of God, in the context of religions and sects. The study consists of an introduction and three chapters. In the introduction, information about the prominent concepts in the study is given, as well as the historical development of anthropomorphism in general. In the first part, the anthropomorphic thought in Judaism, Christianity and pre-Islamic Arab beliefs is discussed. In the second part, anthropomorphism in Islamic thought is discussed within the framework of the concepts of tashbih and tajsim. In the third part, the personalities who pioneered anthropomorphic thought in the early Shiite Imams are analyzed within the historical and cultural framework. In this context, Hishām b. Hakam, Hishām b. Sālim al-Jawālīqī, Yunus b. 'Abd al-Rahman al-Qummī, Abū Ja'far Muhammad b. Nu'mān al-Ahwal, who are claimed to be the proponents of anthropomorphic thought in the early Shī'ah Imamis, are discussed.
