Abstract (EN)
The probability and statistics has a significant role in the applications we come across in many professional areas and the decisions we made in our daily life. However, though this fact, it is not easy for many students to comprehend the subjects and concepts of probability and statistics. Most of the students have difficulties in understanding the terms and concepts of probability and statistics to make connection between the information on probability and statistics. Especially, it is necessary to clarify what kind of problems the 6th, 7th and 8th graders of primary school experience in learning the concepts of probability and statistics the reasons of these difficulties. The aim of this study is to clarify the difficulties that the 6th, 7th and 8th graders of primary school experience in learning and implementing the concepts of probability and statistics to obtain the results for solving the problems that these students experience. The study is composed of six parts. In the first part, the information on the studies, training, learning and teaching activities which had been carried out on this subject before has been given following a literature study. In the second part, the general aims of national education, the problems faced in education, the problems in math education, the sub learning area and gainings of each grade in statistics and probability, the problems facede in teaching statistics and probability are all mentioned in this study. In the third part, statistics and probability found in math curriculum the importance of statistics and probability and the resons of the hurdles in teaching and learning statistics and probability subject in primary education. In the fifth part, the findings which have been obtained by making statistical analysis in relation with the problems determined during the research and the comments on these findings have been given. In the sixth and last part of the study, the conclusions that are obtained as a result of the applications have been discussed and the suggestions have been mentioned.Key words: Statistics and Probability, Concept Error, Teacher, Readiness Level, Ability ofJudge, Negative Attitude.
