Özet (EN)

In this study, the relationship between 5th grade students? general achievement, mathematics achievement and attitude toward mathematics and mathematics anxiety was examined. In addition, the general success, the achievement of mathematics and the attitudes toward mathematics of the students have been searched. Related to the anxiety of mathematics, the effects of campus, gender, teacher satisfaction and the perception of teachers? behaviours as a threat of mark have been examined. The samples of the study were composed of totally 510 students from 5th grade studying in 14 primary schools at Afyonkarahisar city center and rural areas and all those students were chosen via the appropriate sampling method. Math Anxiety Scala for Primary School Students which was developed by researcher and Math Attitude Scala which was developed by Aşkar (1986) was used in the research. . The obtained data was analized with descriptive statistics, T Test for independent samples and Pearson Moments Correlation Coefficient Analysis. In the result of the study, students? general marks, math marks, their attitudes towards mathematic lesson and their anxiety for mathematic classes showed statistically significant differences according to the campuses where they studied, and also these differences were found to be in favor of the students studying in the city. Similarly, students? general marks, math marks, their attitudes towards mathematic lesson and their anxiety for mathematic classes showed significant differences according to sex factor and that these differences also emerged in favor of women. However, it was seen that the factor of perceiving the mark as a threat from the teacher was negatively affected to the students? general marks, maths marks, their attitudes towards math lesson and their math anxiety. In addition, it was found that not only the general marks of the students who were pleased with the teacher were higher and relatively their attitudes towards the math classes were better but also the anxiety level for the math was lower. On the other hand when compared with the students who didn?t like the math lesson, the ones who liked it showed a high statistical attitude level to the math lesson and lower anxiety level for the math. But, a significant difference was not able to be found between the variable that was love of math & the general marks and math marks, also between the variable that was about teacher and the math marks of the students. Finally, it was found that there was a positive correlation and a highly meaningful relationship between the students? math marks and general marks also found that there was a positive and middle level meaningful correlation between their general marks and their attitudes toward math lesson. It was found out that there was a negative and middle level correlation between the students? math marks and their attitudes towards math lesson.
