A new approache to the curriculum for computer lessons at second stage of primary education via project based learning method

SUMMARY A New Approache To The Curriculum For Computer Lessons At Second Stage Of Primary Education Via Project Based Learning Method At the beginning of this study, the concept of project based learning and literature related with computer lesson practises take place. In the second part of the study, activities to be used for computer lessons in grade 6th~8th were selected from the fundamental lessons (Turkish, mathematics, science and social studies) and developed in order to teach computer literacy through a project based teaching method. The activities were implemented in three schools in Trabzon, in the classes of computer and instractional technology teachers. The purpose of the study is to determine, the impacts of these activities on computer lessons and the fundemental lessons with regard to teachers reactions. Furthermore the attitudes of Turkish, Maths, Science and Social Studies teachers towards the ongoing computer lessons with project based learning are tried to be find out by interviews. This study has brought interdisciplinary learning, project based learning and computer education together. It can be concluded that the activities that are developed and implemented, supporting interdisciplinary and lasting learning had positive effects on both teachers and students.
