Investigation of students' attitudes and attitudes towards physical education and sports course in second level institutions

This study was conducted to examine the opinions and attitudes of the students in the second level of primary education towards physical education and sports lesson.The universe of the research is the students who are studying at the second level of primary education institutions, the sample group consisted of 424 [n (male) = 196, n (female) = 228] randomly selected students on a voluntary basis.A descriptive method was applied to reveal the current state of the method.In the study; "Physical Education and Sports Attitude Scale" (BESTÖ), developed by Demirhan and Altay (2001), was prepared by the researcher as a data collection tool; "Demographic Information Form" has been used.The analysis of the collected data was analyzed by parametric hypothesis tests. For descriptive statistics, the percentage and frequency distributions and the arithmetic mean and standard deviation analyzes were performed, the differences between the two groups were used as the T test and the difference between the groups with more than two was used as one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). In the study, it was found that male students' views and attitudes towards physical education and sports lessons were higher than female students according to gender.When the age variable was examined, it was seen that there was a significant difference between the ages of 10 and 15. When the class variable is examined, a significant difference has been obtained between 5th and 8th grade students. A significant difference was found between students 'sports and non-sports status, students' frequent sports, their ages, classes and variables of active sports and their views and attitudes towards physical education and sports lesson. It was concluded that there were no significant differences in the number of siblings, the economic dimensions of their families, their father's educational status, their mother's educational status, father's professions, mother's professions, and their views and attitudes towards physical education and sports.
