The problems that primary school inspectors encouter while performing their duties

The aim of this study is; to depict the problems of primary school inspectors inIstanbul.Survey method has been used in this research. A survey comprised of 40 itemsof Likert scale was developed and applied by the researcher. Validity attained withexpert opinions and reliability obtained with split-half analysis.The universe of this study consists of the primary school inspectors workingin Istanbul city during 2005-2006 education year. 169 primary school inspectorsfrom different parts of Istanbul completed and returned the survey.The scale which was developed by the researcher was used in the research as ameans of collecting data. Arithmetical average, standard deviation, T-test, one wayvariance analysis and Tukey HSD test were applied as statistical techniques in orderto analyze the obtained data. All the analysis were obtained using the SPSS 13.0statistic program.The results have generally indicated that primary school inspectors ?seldom?have problems while carrying their duties like; ?inspection and evaluation?,?guidance, occupational assistance and while-service training?,?examination-research? and ?investigation?. The primary school inspectors mostlyhave problems in their ?guidance, occupational assistance and while-servicetraining? duties. Then comes the ?inspection and evaluation? and ?investigation?duties.According to the type of graduation, branch and seniority variants, there aremeaningful differences between perceptions of primary school inspectors about theproblems they have while carrying their duties . However, there is no meaningfuldifference with seniority variant in their ?investigation? duties.
