Research of self-competency and professional satisfaction of primary school teachers

The target of this research is to find out whether the levels of self competence and job satisfaction of prime school teachers change according to gender, seniority, age, school of graduation, class taught and the term spent at the same school.The research has covered 207 primary school teachers from 11 primary schools located in İstanbul. The data for the research was obtained through Teachers Opinions Scale and Work Satisfaction Poll- Levels of Deficiency in Compensating Needs.As a result of the research it is stated that the levels of self competence shows differences according to the years spent at the same school but on the other hand gender, age, marital status, class taught, seniority or school of graduation do not make any difference.After job satisfaction levels were analyzed, differences were found according to sex, seniority, age, school of graduation, years spent at the same school and class being taught. It was also stated that the job satisfaction levels of primary school teachers do not show any difference according to their marital status.
