Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research is to determine the level of dictation and understanding of the text they dictate in the 2nd grade primary school students. The study group of the research is 103 primary school 2nd grade students studying in Edremit borough of Van province in the 2021-2022 academic year. Survey model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the research. The application was completed in a total of 12 hours, 2 hours a day. The dictation skills of the students were determined by dictating narrative and informative texts to the students. Comprehension questions for the texts they dictated were used to determine the comprehension skills of the students. A "Dictation Skills Rubric" was developed by the researcher in order to collect data on dictation skills. In order to collect data for comprehension, comprehension questions were prepared for narrative and informative text types. As a result of the research, it was found that the level of understanding the dictation and dictated text of the primary school 2nd grade students was generally at medium level, their dictation skills showed a significant difference in favor of the narrative text level, the level of understanding the text types they dictated differed significantly in favor of the informative text type, and the dictation scores and comprehension levels showed a significant difference. There was a high level of significant relationship between the scores they got from the questions. It has emerged that dictation studies can be used as a method to improve understanding in students.
