The effect of naterialgraphic roman style for the first year 4th grade students developing science literacy

Science is divided into several sub-work areas for different purposes. One of these areas is the science. Science education has an important place in the future life of the individual. The individual understands the nature of science and scientific developments with science literacy. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of graphic novel style material on the development of science literacy in primary school 4th grade students. The research was carried out within the scope of pre-test-post-test and retention quasi-experimental design. The independent variables of the study are the graphic novel style material and the Science textbook. The dependent variables of the study is academic success. The study group consisted of 4th grade students attending Kula Tapduk Emre Elementary School in Kula district of Manisa in the 2017-2018 academic year. The study was carried out with 30 students in the control group and 21 in the experimental group. As the data collection tools, word association test, graphic novel style material were used. As a result of the study, it was learned that the material novel style developed material influenced the student science literacy.
