Investigation of studies on digital citizenship in primary education through meta synthesis

Abstract (EN)

In this research, a total of 20 studies, including 14 articles, 4 master's theses, 2 doctorate theses, on digital citizenship in primary school education were examined in accordance with the determined criteria. It is aimed to present the data obtained from these studies with the meta-synthesis method. The criteria determined for the studies to be included in the research; From YÖK database, ULAKBİM, Google Scholar, ERIC and SSCI databases "digital citizenship, digital ethics, digital communication, digital literacy, digital access, digital commerce, digital rights and responsibilities, digital law / digital law, digital privacy and security and digital These are studies published in Turkish that include the keywords "health", examine digital citizenship or its sub-dimensions in primary school education, and reach the full text. In accordance with the purpose of the research, the summary, method, findings and conclusions of the studies were examined in depth. Content analysis was used to analyze the data. According to the findings, it was determined that the most of the articles were published in 2018 and 2022, the thesis studies were published in 2022 at the most, the preferred research method in the studies was mainly qualitative research method, the most used sampling method among the sample selection types was purposeful sampling and easily accessible case sampling. As a tool, it was concluded that document analysis was intense and content analysis was preferred when looking at data analysis methods. When the results of the studies examined are evaluated; It has been concluded that the primary school programs are not sufficiently distributed in terms of digital citizenship and its sub-dimensions, that the majority of primary school teachers and teacher candidates do not have enough information about digital citizenship and its sub-dimensions, however, the subject of digital citizenship education in primary school education is very important.
