The school-family cooperation in enhancing the quality of primary education and social work i̇n school

The aim of this study is to determine the responsibility of the parents and the problems that resourced from the parents, emphasize the necessity of cooperation between school-teacher-parents-students, simply teacher and counsellor are not enough to cope with the problems that are encountered at school therefore it is necessity to establish social service units and in these units there must be a social service expert, psychologist and sociologists and they must work together in this process. It was made a research in Yalova Mareşal Fevzi Çakmak Primary School by using convenience sampling method. In the extent of the research 4th grade level students and school teachers were applied an individual interview and those 4th grade level parents' were applied a survey. Data that was acquired from the survey was analyzed with the SPSS programme. These data was supported with the interviews. This survey shows that parents should be a good role model towards their children when it is noticed primary students' progress. With this purpose, families should also be model to the students in reading books. Parents dwell upon the subjects such as; students' hygiene, nutrition habits, the presentation of rules, gaining responsibility consciousness away from violence and giving importance to get along with their friends, following the TV programme, paying attention to keep the TV off while the child is studying, supplying the participation to the parents' meetings, paying attention to the school-teacher-parent-student cooperation, checking the students' notebooks and books, following the materials of the lessons systematically, giving value to the school and teacher. This will support the family and school-family matters will contribute to the social work in school cooperation is needed is highlighted.
