Investigation of the perception of primary school students on environment and natural resources

This study was carried out to determine the perceptions of elementary school 3rd and 4th grade students on environmental and natural resources. The research was carried out in two official primary schools in two districts of Kastamonu province in 2017-2018 academic year. A total of 61 students (33 grade 3 and 28 grade 4) participated in the study. In this research, content analysis method was used from qualitative research methods. 5 open-ended questionnaires developed by the researcher were used as data collection tools. According to the research findings; It is observed that primary school 3rd and 4th grade students have some preliminary information about the environment with the influence of the society in which they live and lire. These preliminary information emphasized that our environment is composed of terrestrial and aquatic environment, plants and animals are found in the environment and natural and artificial environment are divided into two. Students mentioned more waste as environmental pollution. In order to protect our environment, they should keep our environment clean and they should not be thrown away. When talking about natural resources, they talked about the environment and the sources (forests, flowers).
