Abstract (EN)

The aim of is this study is to examine the impact of IMPROVE and Fermi problems. which were applied for the development of reading comprehension skills of primary school students, on the development of intensive reading strategies and critical thinking. In order to examine it, The comprehension reading skill was selected to improve reading skills and for this aim informative and narrative texts were choosen from the PIRLS exam texts and they were used. To develop mathematical reasoning skills The Improve Teaching Method was preffered and TIMMS exam questions were used in the field of Fermi Problems and reasoning. In the group of this research there are 17 students that are studying in a primary school from the city centre of Bingöl in the second term of the 2021-2022 academical year. This research was designed with the one of the qualitative research methods. The DATA was analysed with the document analysis method of qualitative research and the statistical method of quantitative research. According to the results of the study, it is concluded that The IMPROVE and Fermi problems which were applied for the improvement of the reading comprehension skills have a positive impact on reading comprehension and critical thinking skills of primary school students.
