Abstract (EN)

Intangible cultural heritage means practices, representations, tellings, information, skills, instruments and cultural places that communities, groups and sometimes individuals describe as one part of their cultural heritage. The purpose of this research is study effects of activity based practices on intangible cultural heritage in social studies class. In the context of social studies class, in this practical study about intangible cultural heritage teaching, activity research method is preferred to be used. The study group of this research is 4th grade students in a primary school in Safranbolu, Karabük. For this study in which survey, interview, observation, self assesment and daily data collection instruments are used, an activity based course of action was prepared and implemented. Data of this research was analyzed through descriptive analysis. At the end of activity based course of action practice, for the 4th grade students important awareness on intangible cultural heritage developed, it was understood that they succeded in familiarizing, introducing , describing intangible cultural heritage elements and explaining through examples. It was concluded that students enjoyed brain storming, mind map, demonstration, oral history and those contributed to students' learning process importantly. At the end of the research some suggestions were provided such as different actions on applied cultural heritage education which can be presented to trainers should be taken.
