Analysing the self-esteem levels of imam hatip high school students in terms of some variables

In this study, self-esteem levels of 12th grade students attending Imam Hatip High Schools in Çorum Provincial Directorate of National Education were analyzed in terms of various variables. The population of the study consisted of 12th grade students studying in Çorum Provincial Directorate of National Education Imam-Hatip High School in 2018-2019 academic year. The sample consisted of 434 (four hundred thirty four) 12th grade high schoolstudents. The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, which was developed by Rosenberg (1965) and translated into Turkish by Çuhadaroğlu (1986), was used to determine the self-esteem levels of the students. In determining the variables of the participants, students were asked to fill in a personal information form. This information form aimed to determine students' gender, number of siblings in their family, mother's education, mother's job status, mother's profession, father's education, father's job status, father's profession, economic status of the family, physical characteristics of individuals, GPAs, health problems, parents' marriage status, the attitudes of parents and the place where the participants mostly spent their lives. Data were analyzed using SPSS 26 version. Before the analysis of the study, it was examined whether the distribution of the data was normal or not. In order to test whether the data obtained with Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RBSI) had normal distribution, three analyzes which were used to analyze the data normality were performed Skewness-Kurtosis, Kolmogrov-Simirnov and Histogram graph analyzes respectively. In order to determine whether there is a relationship between variables and students' self-esteem level because of non-parametric distribution of data; MannWhitney-U and Kruskal-Wallis Tests were performed. In the light of the findings, various suggestions were made for applications and research.
