The expectations and problems of religious vocational high school students (Sample of Çorum)

Besides being institutes that raise religious functionaries -who will perform the religious tasks-with right information, Imam Hatip High Schools also provide their students with the necessary education for preaparing for higher education progrms. Form 1924 on having been influenced by the political and social atmosphere of the country, Imam Hatip High Schools have continued their existence in different names until today. The most significant reason why these schools still exist is the people's demand for religious education. In addition to being alternative schools that give science and social lessons together with religious ones to secondary education students, Imam Hatip High Schools also undertake an important mission from the point of view that they give religious education in the most accurate and reliable way. This study, aiming to contribute to the development of Imam Hatip High Schools in terms of quality, consists of two parts. In the first part of this study, the historical adventures of the religious vocational high schools in our country is mentioned. In the second part the expectations and problems of the students studying in these schools are aimed to to be identified. The sample of the research consists of two schools' students from grade 9 to 12 in the center of Çorum. The schools are Buharaevler Anatolian Vocational High School for girls and Şehit Erol Olçak Anatolian Religious Vocational High School. The survey imporev as a tool for collecting data was applied to 255 students. Some questions were asked to students identifying some personal information and their problems and expectations in the process of education.
