Imam Ibn Ebû Zeyd al-Qayrawani's opinions on usulu al-fiqh

Ibn Ebû Zeyd al- Qayrawani (d. 386 h) is among the leading scholars of the Mâlikî school. al- Qayrawani was accepted as the Maliki imam of the period in which he lived, and he was called little Malik. He made a great contribution to the establishment of the Maliki school in many regions, especially in North Africa and Morocco. The fact that the Imam authored a large number of works, his deep knowledge and pure belief gave him a special position among scholars. Although he has authored more than forty works, he has not written a separate book in the field of usulu al-fiqh. For this reason, this study aims to reveal Ibn Ebû Zeyd al-Qayrawani's views on usulu al-fiqh through his books in the field of fiqh and aqidah. In order to benefit from this study, the points of alliance and disagreement with both the scholars of the Maliki school and the scholars of other schools such as Hanafi, Shafi'i and Hanbali were discussed and examined. Thus, since Ibn Abu Zayd al-Qayrawani is among the leading scholars, it was aimed to reveal his views, studies, methods he followed in the fatwas and his tendencies in the field of usulu al-fiqh and to learn how he used these usul to solve current problems.
