Abstract (EN)

Khabar is an important source of knowledge in Islamic thought. The position of the khabar in the theory of knowledge necessitated that it be considered holistically with other sources of knowledge. In Islamic jurisprudence, a methodology was adopted on the basis of the epistemological value and reliability of the khabar, which has a central role in the deduction of sharī'ah rulings, and issues such as isnad and textual criticism were systematically addressed to determine the authenticity of the narrations transmitted. Within the scope of the research, the criteria developed by Māturīdī, who deals with knowledge systematically, while using khabar as legal evidence have been analyzed and the effect of these criteria on Islamic legal methodology has been examined. Māturīdī, who has a reason-reason-based approach to the khabar, has been analyzed and revealed through his interpretations in his work titled Ta'wīl al-Qur'ān by analyzing the classical Hanafī sources of jurisprudence. The study consists of an introduction, three chapters and a conclusion. The first chapter is devoted to al-Māturīdī's life and scholarly/jurisprudential aspects in order to understand his place in the Hanafī fiqh tradition. In the second chapter, after the theoretical background such as the definition, possibility, types and sources of knowledge, al-Māturīdī's perspective on reason and the senses is revealed. In the third part, the conceptual dimension of the khabar and the types of the khabar in terms of its binding nature are discussed and examples of the verses in Māturīdī's tafsīr in which his views on the subject are included are presented.
