Abstract (EN)

In this work, the era Imam Shafi'i lived in, his life and his literary personality are handled with the aim of displaying his literary aspect. It is aimed to reveal that Imam Shafi'i, who is known as scribe, renovator of the second century of the hegira calendar, was in fact a scholar and personage that had excellent ability of eloquence, fluency and oratory also in Arabic language. The capability of Shafi'i in the field of Arabic language and eloquence, and how great is the impact of this on his scholarly personality are pointed out. Our work consists of introduction and four parts. The term he lived in is handled in a political, social and scientific way in the introduction. Main characteristics of Arabic poem in Abbasid era are mentioned. In the first part, his life and scientific journey are touched on for the purpose of studying aspects that had an effect on the formation of his scientific personage. In the second part; his literary style, poems and proses are examined. In the third part, his poetry divan is studied in the aspects of form and content and in the forth part,it is explained with examples from the Divan by defining mentioned arts of eloquence which are analyzed in terms of semantics.
