Abstract (EN)
The debates concerning who should assume leadership after the death of Prophet Muhammad, the events of Karbala, and the influence of various cultural doctrines are among the primary factors that led to the emergence of Shiism. These debates not only resulted in the formation of the Shia sect by those who claimed that Ali was the rightful successor (imam) after Prophet Muhammad, but also caused divisions within Shia itself over questions of who should assume the imamate and how this succession should be determined. Over time, numerous subgroups emerged within Shia. This study examines the theological similarities and differences between Imamiyya and its offshoot Zaydiya, two prominent branches of Shia Islam. The thesis is structured into an introduction, three main chapters, and a conclusion.
