Abstract (EN)

Radiological Evaluation of the Effects of Allograft Alone or Combined with i-PRF on Marginal Bone Loss in Surgery of Immediately Placed Dental Implants: A Retrospective Study This study aims to retrospectively investigate the potential effects of injected platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF) on marginal bone loss in surgery of implants placed in the socket in the same session after tooth extraction. In the study, 211 patients (125 females and 86 males) who underwent immediate implantation in the Periodontology Department of Karadeniz Technical University Faculty of Dentistry between 2012 and 2019 and who had panoramic radiographs immediately after the operation (T0), 3th-4th month (T1) and 1st year follow-up (T2), total of 347 implants were evaluated. Implants were divided into 2 groups: those which underwent a combination of i-PRF and allograft during implant surgery (Group 1; 158 implants in 92 patients) and those which applied only allograft (Group 2; 189 implants in 119 patients). The measurements of mesial and distal marginal bone levels around the implants were carried out using the "Image J" program on the panoramic radiographs which were taken at the routine controls at T0, T1 and T2. In the intergroup comparison, the change of the mesial and distal marjinal bone levels in T0-T1, T1-T2 and T0-T2 time intervals statistically significant in both Group 1 and Group 2 (p <0.001). In the comparison between Group 1 and Group 2, a statistically significant difference was found in T0 distal and T1 mesial marginal bone levels (p <0.05). Although there was no significant difference between the groups in terms of T0 mesial marginal bone level, it was found that T1 mesial marginal bone level was significantly reduced in Group 1 compared to Group 2. As a result of the data obtained from the study, it was seen that the use of i-PRF in addition to allograft in immediate implantation did not have a positive effect on marginal bone loss.
