The impact of migration on the economic development of Türkiye

The Syrian immigration to Türkiye since the beginning of the Syrian civil war in 2011 is a highly crucial phenomenon in terms of its reflections on the development of Türkiye. As a neighboring country to Syria, Türkiye has become a leading destination country for Syrian migrants pursuing safety, security, and economic opportunities. Being home to one of the largest migrant populations that are forcibly displaced on the globe, with approximately 4 million people, Türkiye has been influenced politically, economically, socially, and culturally to a large extent by such a massive immigration wave. The objective of my dissertation is to analyze the influences that the Syrian immigrants have on the economic development of Türkiye. To this end, the Syrian immigrants' statuses in the realms of economic growth, education, and health were examined holistically by means of secondary data including the results of the academic studies conducted previously and statistical reports released officially by relevant institutions and organizations.
