The effect of roy adaptation model-based education for infertile individuals on adjustment and coping with stress

This research was carried out to verify the Turkish validity and reliability of the Revised Infertility Adjustment Scale and to examine the Effect of Roy Adaptation Model-Based Education on Adjustment and Coping with Stress in Infertile Individuals. The study was carried out in two stages, methodologically and experimentally. The study was conducted with 280 women between June and September 2021 in a private IVF center. The language and content validity of the scale was evaluated. The content validity ratio (CVI) was determined as 0.8484 and the scale was finalized by making necessary corrections. The sample size of the scale was evaluated as very good (KMO=0.948, χ2=3566.966, p=0.000). In the CFA, the R-IAS has a single factor structure with 11 items, the factor loads of the items vary between 0.841 and 0.915, and all the values of the CFA fit indices are within acceptable limits/perfect fit limits (X 2 /df: 4,560, RMSEA: 0.083, CFI: 0, 98, GFI: 0.98, AGFI: 0.83, NNFI: 0.98, NFI: 0.98, RMR: 0.079, SRMR: 0.036). For the reliability analysis of the scale, Cronbach's Alpha Coefficient, Item-Total Score and test-retest correlation were examined. The Cronbach's Alpha of the scale was 0.968, the item-total score correlation was high, and the test-retest correlation was 0.940. In the second phase of the study, a total of 80 women were studied, 40 of whom were control and 40 were interventions. It was determined that the intervention group, in which the training program based on the Roy Adaptation Model was applied, reduced the negative effects of infertility, increased their level of adjustment, and enabled them to cope with stress effectively. As a result; It was determined that the R-IBS can be used as a valid and reliable tool in Turkish society, and the training program based on the Roy Adaptation Model positively affects women's adjustment and coping with stress.
