Debates of dominance over Mediterranian and Balkans in early 20th centuary in British documents 1900-1912

Late 19th and early 20th Centuries were turbulent years for the relations between Powers, Vienna Congress had seen the creation of Concert of Europe, however inter-conflicts between Powers cause it to be accept only on paper. Losses suffered by Ottomans in 1877-78 Russian-Ottoman war, changed the balance in favor of the Russia and made Powers uncomfortable, once again having them gather to preserve the status quo. Although, Berlin Congress of 1878 and the subsequent treaty merely subsided the major problems, not solved them. Powers that were the sides and observers for the treaty, expecting the fall of Ottomans, took steps to further their goals. While we see some examples with the French invasion of Tunisia (1881) and the British invasion of Egypt (1882), early 20th Century would see the major actions being taken by Powers to ensure their respective dominance over Mediterranean and Balkans. Conflicts for dominance of Russia and Austria in the Balkans; and British, German, Italian and French in Mediterranean region would play a role in determining the sides for Allied and Axis forces pre-WWI. Hence, discord within the region would triumph over the effort to preserve the status quo and would pave the way to WWI. Our work revolves around the British documents between the years 1900 and 1912 to illustrate how the conflict and cooperation between the Powers effected the events mentioned.
