Comparison of isobaric or hyperbaric levobupivacaine for spinal anaesthesia undergoing inguinal hernia

63SUMMARYIn this study; we compared the anaesthetic and analgesic effects of intrathecal isobaric orhiperbaric levobupivacaine on hemodynamic parameters, sensorial and motor blockcharacteristics, surgical comfort, block resolution times and first postoperative analgesicrequirement in patients undergoing inguinal hernia.40 patients in the risk group of ASA I-II included in the study. Isobaric levobupivacaineadministered to Group L (3 mL, 7.5 mg, 0.25%) and hiperbaric levobupivacaine (1.5mL%0.5 isobaric levobupivacaine + 1.2mL %20 glucose+0.3 mL PSS) administered to Group D.When two groups were compared; demographic characteristics, hemodynamic parameters,additional analgesic requirement, time to reach the maximum level, duration of maximumblock, time to reach the sensorial block to T10 (Group L: 5.6 ± 2.5 min, Group D: 6.1 ± 2.8min), total regression of sensorial block (Group L: 194.5 min, Group D 163.5 min),termination time of motor blockade (Group L: 143.5 ± 40.3 min, Group D: 120.3 ± 50 .1min), two segment regression of sensorial blockade (Group L: 98.0 ± 24.5 min, Group D: 88.5± 17.0 min) (p=0.163), regression of sensorial blockade to T10 ( Group L: 107.0 min, GroupD: 101.3 min) and first analgesic requirement times were found to be similar. Maximummotor block level (Group L: 2.2 ± 0.8 , Group D: 1.3 ± 1.1) was significantly higher in GroupL (p=0.005).We conclude that hiperbaric levobupivacaine is a suitable choice in out-patient spinalanaesthesia practice. Because of less motor block degree and duration than with isobariclevobupivacaine.
