Abstract (EN)

Stroke is one of the major causes of long-term disability which brings about psychical and socioeconomic drawbacks for patients and their parents as well as medical institutions. In effect, it should form a basis in combating with the stroke to ascertain the risk factors and to eliminate these factors. The scarcity of the samples in the studies, the variety of the methods applied and the ethnic groups have highly likely contributed to the diversity of the results. The objective of this study has been to investigate the effect of stroke on the development of gene polymorphisms associated with thrombophilia. In our study, we have examined 44 stroke patients. As a result of the study, a statistically significant difference was found between MTHFR C677T / ß Fibrinojen -455GA gene polymorphisms and PACI subtype of the Bamford classification (p<0.05).To sum up, in the light of these information we have drawn the conclusion that the stroke ethiopathogenesis is multifactorial and that gene polymorphisms associated with thrombophilia can only form a risk factor when theyappear together with other factors.
