Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to determine the relationship between disability, fatigue, and life satisfaction in stroke patients. This research is of descriptive, correlational type. The research data were collected from patients diagnosed with stroke between 01.10.2023 and 31.01.2024 at Tokat State Hospital and Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Research and Training Hospital. The study sample consisted of 160 patients diagnosed with stroke who scored 5 and above on the Brief Disability Questionnaire. "Personal Information Form", "Brief Disability Questionnaire", "Life Satisfaction Scale" and "Chalder Fatigue Scale" were used as data collection tools in the study. The data were analyzed using SPSS-27.0 program. In the evaluation of the data, t-test, One-Way ANOVA analysis, Mann Whitney U analysis, Kruskal Wallis-H analysis, Correlation analysis, Colmograph Smirnov analysis, Tukey HDS test, Skewness and Kurtosis analysis and regression analysis were applied. P<0.05 was accepted for statistical significance. According to the research data, %57.5 of the participants were in the 55-74 age group, %71.9 were male, %83.8 had a chronic disease, %83.8 used continuous medication, %84.4 had ischemic stroke, %62.5 had a stroke on the left side and %41.9 used an assistive device after stroke. The participants' disability score average was determined as 12.16±5.013, the Chalder Fatigue Scale score average was determined as 19.32±4.719 and the Life Satisfaction Scale score average was determined as 14.55±3.795. In our study, it was determined that the fatigue severity of the stroke patients with disability was high and their life satisfaction was moderate. It was observed that as the disability increased, the fatigue severity increased and the life satisfaction decreased. The mental fatigue severity also increased in individuals with high physical fatigue severity. It was determined that life satisfaction decreased with the increase in fatigue severity.
