An ethnobotanical survey of the inönü and mihalgazi districts of Eskişehir province (Turkey)

This survey has an aim to identify the various folk usage of the plants in Mihalgazi and İnönü (Eskişehir) districts. The field works have been done during 48 days from February 2014 to April 2015. During this research 12 villages of İnönü district and 5 villages of Mihalgazi district have been visited. The information for these plants, such as local names, their usages, used parts, methods of preparation, administration dosage and duration of treatments have been recorded. The collected specimens are kept in the Herbarium of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Anadolu University (ESSE). As a result of this identification, 124 taxa (101 wild, 24 cultivated) have been determined for several usages. Among them 87 taxa are used as medical purposes, 61 taxa as food, 6 taxa as spice, 7 taxa as dermocosmetics and cosmetics, 21 taxa for animal diseases, 13 taxa as fodder, 8 taxa 8 taxa as fuel and 33 taxa have been established for different usages. The ethnobotanical uses of 15 taxa are recorded for the first time. Besides, 5 taxa are endemic. Key words: Eskişehir, Ethnobotany, İnönü, Medicinal plant, Mihalgazi, Turkey
