Abstract (EN)

The concept of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) has existed in society for several centuries. However, there have been many developments in the design, application, and control engineering of UAVs in the recent past. Drone technology has started to be used in many sectors such as agriculture, forestry, logistics, entertainment, search and rescue, damage assessment and construction. The construction industry has lagged in adopting new technologies compared to other sectors. Despite this, site managers are constantly looking for ways to save money and increase productivity. With the emergence of drone technology in recent years, the interest of construction site managers on this issue has increased. For example, these drones use photogrammetry to create 3D models that construction companies use to estimate material quantities. Drones also provide work safety, material savings and quality production at the construction site. This study shows the place and importance of drones in construction project management and in which steps they can be used. Project management is one of the most critical points to be considered for construction companies in Turkey. Management systems such as time, quality and safety are considerations in project management. At these stages, efficiency is increased with the use of drones. Effective project management requires the development of a realistic plan and its clear implementation from start to finish. Thanks to the drones used in construction projects, they can be easily detected in case of any production disruption at the construction site. Workflow can be made more efficient by using drone technology integrated with Building Information Modeling (BIM). In addition, it has been determined that the drones used at the construction sites during the project phase prevent work accidents and material waste. The use of drone technology in project management, which is very important in Turkey, will bring great time, cost, and security management advantages. The promotion of this system, which has not yet become widespread in our country, especially in public works, and its dissemination throughout the country will contribute to many stakeholders (contractors, landlords, subcontractors, workers, material suppliers).
