In this study, approach of Turkish cartoon world to work accidents has been evaluated. Moreover, the effects of humor on society about health and safety have been investigated. Furthermore, the accidents which happened in Turkey and cartoons about these accidents have been examined. In this thesis, some definitions, statistics and assessments about work health and safety are given. In the study, semi-structured surveys have been administered with Turkish cartoonists and interviews. The results of the surveys have been analyzed via SPSS 19.0 package program and presented in the study. As a result, it is predicted that media is very attractive to deliver information and create an awarness on society about work accidents. Results of the analyses of surveys show that, cartoonists mostly draw their cartoons after seeing news about work accidents on the media. It is also believed that humour can be useful to create an awareness on people about health and safety issues. The majority of the cartoonists, who participated in the study, acknowledged that they are sensible and feel responsible on safety issues and they tried to show these feelings on their works. Based on results of the study it is predicted that humour and cartoons can positively effect work accidents.
