Abstract (EN)

In this study the development of appendiks in human fetus is examined using light microscopy and flow cytometric analysis. The data obtained is compared with adult appendix morphologically and physiologically. The study is carried out between October 1996-September 1997 in KTÜ Medical Faculty, Department of Hystology and Embryology. Study groups consist of 30 fetus (ranging 18.2-36.4 weeks of gestation) and 5 adult autopsy material. Detailed hystological structure, crypte development and lymphoid follicle formation is observed using hystological staining, proliferation potential of appendix cells is examined by flow cytometric analysis. The mature hystological layering of T. Seroza-T. Muscularis-T. Mucoza and crypte structure is detected to form between 31-36 weeks of gestation microscopic study. This formation process is observed to be simultaneous to the development of aggregate lymphoid follicles (Peyer Plaques). Thus proving the parallel development of main hystological layering and lymphoid tissue. In Flow cytometric analysis S phase (DNA synthesis phase) results are significantly higher in late weeks of gestation compared to earlier weeks. These results are lower in adult appendiks materials.
