Integration of Anatolian Alevis in German political life

In early 1960's when Anatolian guest workers started to immigrate into European lands an irreversible political, cultural and sociological transformation process started. In this migration wave, inevitably Anatolian Alevis' religious, cultural and political codes arrived in European countries as other Anatolian identity groups. As generations passed and guest workers transformed into regular inhabitants and citizens an integration equation occurred with many dependent and independent variables with European societies. Before 1990s Alevis were an unknown entity and also an irrelevant detail in the perception of European political elites, but, after the European Union process, just as other minority groups, Alevis found the suitable political and sociological climate to express themselves and became engaged in the political process. The biggest group of immigrants in Germany comes from Turkey but their integration process into the German society and political life are considered difficult due to the differences in the cultures and traditions between local and immigrant groups. Integration of Anatolian Alevis in German political life is a social aspect and can be studied best through looking at the how people interact with the established assumptions. For this reason the researcher decided to use a qualitative research design based on a literature review. This research examines the integration of the Alevis into the German political life, how far had the integration become possible, and the barriers, which constrain the full integration of the Alevis into the German political life.
