Abstract (EN)

As one of the vibrant public space, museums are becoming more important areas in the community day by day. While the restoration of many historical spaces is going on extensively the historical importance of these spaces are being noticed by residents and foreigners nowadays. In this respect, Kariye Museum is an attractive building for all audiences despite being less known. This dissertation aims to evaluate how the knowledge and attention of the audiences can be increased by interactive PR methods. Kariye Museum is expressed as a rare Byzantine style architectural building by many art historians and architects. This dissertation consists of different data sources such as an interview by a group of young restaurateurs, authorities and also email corresponds. By end of the past century, traditional PR works were spreaded by usage of internet and especially social networking. According to 2015 data, Kariye Museum, which operates under Ayasofya Museum Management, its audiences are well below that of Ayasofya Museum. The museum is currently under restoration also there is no ongoing PR activities, and has no PR archives. In many parts of the world, it is known that monuments are transformed into museums. The historical background of these museums, corporate identities, meeting the audiences aren't thought by authorities sufficiently however the museums need to be designed with a corporate identity before their doors are opened to the audiences. Moreover, announcement of future technology applications should be considered as an attractive PR work for the audiences and all activities and benefits of the museum should be announced in written, printed and digital media. In this context, the first aim is which media will be choose for rich display and content. The second aim is to provide interactive system recommendations that are more influential and well-informed for the audiences.
