Abstract (EN)
The aim of our study was to evaluate the internalizing symptoms, childhood traumas and psychological resilience of adolescents with suicidal ideation or behavior in comparison with healthy adolescents. For this purpose, 37 adolescents with suicidal ideation or attempt as case group and 40 adolescents without suicidal ideation or attempt who did not meet any psychiatric disorder as control group who were admitted to Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Department of Child Psychiatry between January 2023 and January 2024 were included in the study. A total of 37 case and 40 control groups were formed. First, the K-SADS interview was conducted and the DSM-5 diagnoses of the participants were noted. Secondly, Sociodemographic Data Form, Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, Childhood Depression Scale, Childhood Anxiety Disorders Screening Scale, and Adolescent Psychological Resilience Scale were completed by the participants. In our study, childhood traumas and internalizing symptoms of adolescents with suicidal ideation or attempt were found to be higher and psychological resilience was found to be lower in adolescents with suicidal ideation or attempt compared to healthy control group. In conclusion, increased internalizing, presence of childhood traumas and low psychological resilience were found to be risk factors for suicide in adolescents with suicidal ideation or attempt.
